From Science to Society: At the Intersection of Chronic Pain Management and the Opioid Crisis

On May 31st – June 1st, 2018, the NIH Pain Consortium will convene the 13th Annual NIH Pain Consortium Symposium on Advances in Pain Research.

We are honored to welcome US Surgeon General VADM Jerome M. Adams, MD, MPH and NIH Director Dr. Francis S. Collins for a Fireside Chat to discuss the NIH HEAL Initiative and this year’s theme: From Science to Society – At the Intersection of Chronic Pain Management and the Opioid Crisis.

The symposium will feature a keynote address by Dr. Judith Paice, entitled “Unintended Consequences: Ensuring Access to Pain Control During an Opioid Epidemic”, a Pain Patient’s Perspective, and expert panel sessions on the Intersection of Pain, Reward & Opioids; The BRAIN Initiative: Harnessing Technology for Pain Research; and Disparities in Clinical Pain Management. A poster session featuring junior investigators selected by NIH Program staff, will include a broad selection of current pain research findings. Members of the extramural scientific community, the NIH Scientific community, health care providers and the public are invited to attend.
